Longing for October!

Finnabair is coming to Sweden (again) in October, and this time I intend not to miss her classes!
(I've been a fan ever since I saw her work in the Swedish scrapbooking magazine "Scrapbooking mm." issue no 5, 2010!)

Am I going to meet you in class?

These are the classes she will be teaching in Stockholm:
(All text/pictures are from Anna Dabrowska's homepage. You should check her out! She's awesome!)

1. "Splash” Mixedmedia Paper Layout Class ( with stain and ink splashing, stamping, spraying... and more!)

You think it is time to try something new, a bit different than traditional, multi-paper scrpbooking projects and popular embellishments? Do you want to have some creative fun, go artsy playing with paint, inks, stains...or something even more surprising? Maybe you feel it is high time to try using some more white negative space?
Let me inspire you with some really cool ideas for creative, totally customized mixed media paper layouts! You really don't need a lot to create a spectacular project – let yourself to play with sprays, inks, stamps and have great fun with designing your project from the very beginning to the surprisingly energetic end. The possibilities are truly amazing... and experimenting with them is pure fun!
During this class I will share with you my experiences in creating layouts based on my favorite ink techniques: splashing, spraying, ink-dropping, stamping and painting I'll show you several finished projects which will inspire you to experiment with color and show you how to “embrace the imperfections” ! Will give some tips about layout composition and page balance, especially on negative space based projects. I'll tell you more about using paper, fabric and paint go get layers and show you some cool techniques for creating artsy, freestyle pages.
During this class I create with a group a full sized, freestyle layout based on mixed media techniques stamps and color products from well known manufacturers such as Ranger, Prima Marketing and La Blanche.
Give your scrapbook pages, new, a bit crazy, a bit funky look ... don't be afraid to express yourself.... and get your fingers dirty!
Usual class time: 2,5 -3 h

2. Industrial Baroque
Paper Layout Classes based on mixedmedia and scrapbookintg techniques. Their common part is multi-layering, richness of techniques. using a wide range of mediums and loads of  elements to create one-of-a kind, personalized project. Industrial Baroque is time for making your fingers dirty, creativity flowing and pushing the boundaries of your imagination.

Grunge is a style, which is, in my opinion, the essence of creative fun and freedom: you can put almost everything on your project and be happy with the effect you got. You may give as much or as little elements as you want, you may use medias and inks… Grunge is usually considered as “boyish” or “men” style, but I'd like to convince you that it also as the more feminine, crazy, eclectic side – let's call it “industrial baroque”.
During classes I will try to convince you that creating a grungy, eclectic layout is not hard at all - and the only boundaries you have are those made by your imagination! I will make you look again at your embellishments and how you possibilities of using everyday objects as a part of your composition, giving them the uniqueness, personal touch and grungy style. I will show you finished projects and share my experiences from the creative process. On each class I will create with the students a full size layout including products from well known manufacturers and demonstrate possibilities of mixing different medias, scrapbooking supplies and found objects to get baroque look of your project.
"Industrial Baroque" is a perfect combination of fun, experiment and playing with composition, color and texture.
Usual class time: about 3,5 - 4 h.

"Steampunk love":
( - an Industrial Baroque class)
Paper based mixedmedia class with masking and layering, spraying, gel mediums, acrylic and metallic paints and pastes toghether with hard, grungy and steampunk elements ina good company of lace and flowers. The "heaviest" look in the range!

3. Everyday Treasures
- Mixed-media shadowbox class with lots of techniques including gel mediums, inks, paint and more! Great fun with found objects and pure creativity.
We are surrounded by inspiring objects: at work or at home, in the city and in the countryside – there are things which are usually not visible for us…they are too common, too plain to be noticed. But try to look around, open your eyes wider – I’m sure you’ll find real treasures all around you, and all of them have their own stories which want to be told! Take a second look in the drawer, check your attic, search through the wardrobe…or visit the flea market – the possibilities are endless and your creativity will amaze you – just give the chance to yourself and the little everyday treasures from your neighborhood.
There are no boundaries in creating mixed media projects: you may give as much or as little elements as you want, you may use medias, paint and inks…and whatever comes to your mind too! Don’t be afraid to mix and blend and let your imagination free – it is pure fun!
During this workshop I’ll try to convince you that beauty can be found everywhere – and it is waiting to be discovered. I’ll guide you to create your own mixed-media shadowbox, based on my favorite layering techniques and choice of embellishments, colored with a wide range of color products. I’ll demonstrate possibilities of mixing different medias like gel mediums, paint, ink, scrapbooking supplies and found objects to get interesting layers and details on the unique grungy project.
This workshop is suitable both for beginners and advanced crafters.
Class time: about 3,5 h.

Why I make cards

My sister's youngest.
This is the reason to make cards!
The older kids made cards for R and me.

No posts lately....

Sorry!
My keyboard is wacky, National Tests are in the way and I just don't have had much time for crafting lately. Don't give up hope, dear readers. I'll be back! (In awhile!)

Cough against art!/Hosta mot konst!

HI, everyone!

I know that many of you have been checking regularily if I've made anyting new. (It feels strange that you actually take time to check my blog out! Thank you!)
I've not been totally healthy, these past few weeks. It's not anything serious, though. We seem to have something called the "6-week-cough" at work, and of course I got it! It makes me a bit tired and uninspired! I also have much to do at work since I work a little bit more then full time...
I hope I'll be back soon with something to show! The good thing with not making anything, is that the brain starts to get new ideas for cards, altered art and other projects...

Take care everyone, and please dodge the "6-week-cough"!

Work, work, work/Jobb, jobb, jobb

SORRY that I've not published anything for awhile, and sorry that you have to wait longer...
Right now I'm working 24/7 (at my full time job) and it doesn't seem to end soon...
Hang on, I'll be back for Christmas!

YEP, I am crafting... but now there is no light at all - and frankly, it hasn't been for quite awhile. It's November and it's the darkest it ever gets in Sweden ( -no snow yet).
Until I get daylight and can take pictures... and that won't happen tomorrow, anyhow... I can't show you what I've done...
Well, until then I'll show you the best tutorial ever: How to make bows! Dawn McVey's Bow tying 101. Enjoy!

Blog Awards

I didn't know that blog awards still exist, but they seem to do in the papercrafting community. There are so many talented people in the cyber jungle out there, you need time and an ax to chop out a path to the really wonderful newer ones. I dedicate my choice to the new ones. This is for us newbee's. The one's that are hard to find. The one's that may be worth checking out. The one's not many have found yet...
So what is all this about?

I received a blog award from Diane at Queen's Paper Palace. Thank you Diane! (Please make sure to go check out her blog. Diane makes wonderful stuff!)

Now I get to award 5 wonderful blogs with the same award!
Check them out: (in no particular order):
  1. Pysselterapi och livsglädje  I absolutely love this girl's work! She's a master at polymer clay. (In Swedish)
  2. Terés funderar och skapar  Terés is brilliant. What more is there to say? She's as good as Tim Holtz at distressing! (Swedish/English)
  3. Northen Scrapper Fun, cute and adorable! And gifted. Totally gifted! What I like the most about her scrapping is her colour scheme. (English)
  4. Dart2Art  Fabric, paper, mixed media... Esther's blog is almost brand new. But wow, what a talent! Esther has also a very wonderful colour scheme. (English)
  5. Itza Thoughts Design is an even newer blog. Check her out! She deserves it! Totally cool stuff. (English)

Please go visit the talented people I've mentioned above. Their work will inspire you and you'll be glad you did!

---

Tack Diane! (Glöm inte kolla in hennes blog.

A little blog icon/En liten bloggikon

After almost 2,5 week of  double sided pneumonia I am healthy enough to play with photoshop - long enough - to make a tiny little icon...
Not much scrappy fun for elbeth.
---

The creative process/Den kreativa processen

One may wonder why I am not posting anything, well... I am planning/collecting stuff. I have heard that it's called "The Process". There is where I am now - in the process of creating.
Unfortunately my daytime job is taking too much time from the artistic stuff... I guess that's just the way it is. I will publish more. I have tons of ideas. I just need time now...

---

Made in Sweden

Yes, they do exist - Swedish paperlines and Swedish scrapbooking products. Though I just know very few. Some of these companies don't do stuff in my style at all, since I'm more of a Timmy/Laura/Martha kind of gal!
Inkido, Panduro, Bildmålarna, Minelle (retailers only), Tingtura, Vilda stamps, Magnolia, Pion Design and You Do makes Swedish scrapbooking products. And surely, Fiskars used to be Swedish, right? We used to buy the best scissors from them when I was a kid!
If you know any more, please add the url in the comments!

---
Skriv gärna in länkar till fler svenska scrapbookingprodukter i kommentarerna!

Resources

Many people on "Following the Papertrail" have been wondering where I get my supplies. I've upgraded my blog to contain links to my favorite web shops. My local stores (also web shops, if you like) are of course favourized, but sometimes I order from others...
I really do recommend Scrapadabadoo in the US, that even do special orders (if you ask them)! They have the most adorable staff!
Here you go - all my favourite sources for stuff! (Just look for the links to the right!)
How I wished that Sweden had Michael's, that Martha Stewart was a Swedish lady in Gothenburg and that we had Tim Holtz as a local resident in Örebro! I also wish we had the prices, coupons and sales as you lucky, lucky Americans do!

---

Some other stuff..../Lite annat....

I already warned you that I may go mixed media with no previous warnings. Looking at the things I've recently created I found that I have rather much "other stuff" that I may publish, waiting for my scrapbooking stuff to catch up. Let's start with this one...

---

The moss heart is made to hang on a door. The size is about 23 x 26 cm and it has a painted wooden key, 2 dark red felt hearts, spanish moss, two different sizes of pins with graphite grey bead heads and some silver coloured spiralised metal thread.

No time for crafting, but that's about to change.../Ingen tid att pyssla, men det ska vi ändra på....

I have not forgotten you all, I have just not had any time to do craft for awhile. Daytime work, Christmas, two separate colds and a trip abroad has made my crafting time non existent for the last month. I have plenty of ideas for new projects and I am about to start crafting and photographing my new things as soon as possible.

About a Reluctant Scrapper.../Om en motvillig scrappare....

Actually, I'm totally new to scrapbooking. This summer my friend (who also happens to be my riding instructor) thought that we ought to learn scrapbooking. I was really skeptical at first. Paper has never been my thing...
(I do like crafts though! I have painted since I was allowed to have crayons and paint, I've done lots of stuff including taking courses in silversmithing, I've been beading, using metals like copper and tin, soldering, sewing, woodcrafting and even tried some decoupage.)

Anyhow. I was wrong.

This blog is supposed to be a window to show you all on "The Intertubes" some of my stuff. I can't guarantee that I'll just be doing scrapbooking. I tend to lean towards the mixed media direction with no previous warnings...

Hope you'll enjoy my blog!

-----------------------------
