My Cousin the Farmer

Front
The farmer from Oh Crop! looks suspiciously like my cousin - who is a farmer! Is the spitting image a coincidence or did the artist really do some research to see how a proper Swedish farmer looks like? The similarity is stunning! :)

Anyhow, he had to have a barn, a duck in the barn and some chickens around it. Looks like he got some hay in, even though we had a wet summer!

A Christmas Barn

I don't know, it's a bit early for Christmas, but I started to play with my barn die... and all of a sudden my project turned into a Christmas card! I got most of my new Christmas stamps a bit late last year, and because of that I have some new stuff that I need to try out!

Some tips and tricks concerning aging the barn:
  • Stamp the wood grain stamp on Pure Poppy cardstock with Pure Poppy ink. (It looks much better in real life!)
  • The white trimmings on the barn were aged down with Old Paper Distress ink. (None of my other ink colours looked good at all!)

"God jul" means "Merry Christmas" in Swedish.

Stuff used:

PTI stamps: Holiday Lights, BB: Farm and Barn
PTI dies: On the farm, In the meadow, Block alphabet die collection (lower case), Holly jolly and Shape up: barn die.
Inks: PTI (True black), Versa Magic (Turquoise gem, Aquatic splash, Mango madness)
PTI CS: Pure poppy, Ripe avocado, Sweet blush, Vintage cream and Classic craft.
Other: Embrodery floss, blingstones, small pearls, washi tape and glossy accent.

Stamp-a-faire Farewell Shot

We'll talk soon again!
Oh no!!! The two days of crafting are over! I've had so much fun! Thank you to all PTI Stamp-a-faire participants and a special thank you to Nichole and PTI for making this online event!

Please, let's do it again!

All my projects - and a bit of the mess!

Oh, and I shouldn't forget the 5 badges I earned:

"Memory Preservation Badge- Mini Book Challenge"
"Craft Conservation Badge- Limited Supply Challenge"
"Correspondence Badge- Camp Card Set Challenge"
"DIY Badge- Homemade Embellishments"
"Knots Badge- Ribbon Techniques Challenge"

Stamp-a-faire Mini Book Challenge

The Mini Book Challenge was THE big project for me! I wanted to use very special photos for this one.  Among these photos are the very first pics when I and R met for the very first time. Where did we meet? We met at the Zoo, of course! :)

It wasn't very hard to figure out what stamp sets I wanted to use! (Turning a New Leaf and It's a Jungle Out There! They fit - even in a punny way!)

I've not added a title for the book yet. (I just ordered the Block Alphabet and I want to use it on the front!) I followed Ashley's tutorial.

The-Challenge
Your challenge is to pick one of the mini books from below and utilize it in a project of your own.  You can re-create an exact replica of the designer's project or reinterpret it in your own way.

No title for this book yet! (I'm waiting for my Block Alphabet die to arrive!)

EDITED:  ... and now, a couple of month later, here it is!

Stuff used:
Turning a New Leaf and It's a Jungle Out There (PTI) stamp set.
All dies from PTI: (Heart prints collection, Love lives here)
PTI Ink: Fine Linen, Dark Chocolate, True Black, Simply Chartreuse, Pinefeather.
(I used some green Memento Inks too - London Fog, New Sprout, Cottage Ivy, Bamboo Leaves and Versa Colour Sage as well.)
PTI CS:  Ocean tides, Pure poppy
Overlay, patterned paper from my stash.

Stamp-a-faire Homemade Embellishments

It's not very often I recreate an entire card, but I think I'll do that much more often! I learn a lot when I try to copy and I also have to push myself a bit out of the comfort zone, using different embellishments, colours and layouts.
I love Melissa Philips!  I followed her tutorial on how to make a handmade felt ribbon embellishment.
This is my take on her card:
Well, I'm no Melissa, but this is the result! :)

This is Melissa's original card:

The-Challenge
Your challenge is to create some custom embellishments using inspiration from one of the tutorials above.  Then create a project using them.  You can choose to re-create an exact project from one of the team members or design something of your very own.

I used:
PTI stamps:
Movers & Shakers Sentiment
Fancy Flourishes
BB: Text Style
First Fruits

PTI Ink:
Canyon clay
Classic Kraft
Fine Linen
Aqua Mist

PTI felt:
Vintage cream
Canyon clay

I also used a wooden button, some twine, sewing thread and craft and white cardstock.

Stamp-a-faire Camp Card Challenge

I'm continuing the Stamp-a faire challenges today! The original hours doesn't work completely when you're in Scandinavia, and I had to go to bed before the last 2 posts on Nichole's blog. Anyhow, I'm sure I'm not the only one going on today too! :)

Well, here are my 3 cards, made with the technique from Betsy's tutorial!

Stuff used:
In the Meadow Silhouettes die and stamp (PTI)
White cardstock, patterned paper from Tilda Collection (Panduro Hobby) and twine in 3 different colours.

And here are the rules:
The-Guidelines
--Create your own card set using inspiration from one of the tutorials showcased above or develop your own design.  Your project must also incorporate at least one Papertrey product.

Stamp-a-faire Limited Supply Challenge/Ribbon Techniques Challenge

Edited: I'm entering the  Stamp-a-faire Ribbon Techniques Challenge with this card as well, because I made a bow like the one on Dawn's video!

Okey dokey, here we go again!

I used an even more limited supply than the list below. I don't have the Natural Beauties set yet and because of that I decided to go with Lace Bouquet as my stampset of choice.
I used a saddle stitch ribbon instead of the bitty dot, because I just had a saddle stitch ribbon in the right colour!
I tried to use the buttons, but I didn't like how it turned out, so I skipped them.
The paper I used:  Stamper's Select White and Aqua Mist
The inks I used: Aqua Mist, AMuse "Fern" that has the same colour as Simply Chartreuse and Hawaiian shores.
I had to use some foam adhesive as well - or the card would fall apart! :D

Here are the rules:

The-Challenge
Your challenge is to create a project using the limited supply list provided below.  You can choose to re-create one of the designer projects or design something all your own.
These are the specifics that were provided to each of the team members.  You can use as many or as few as you like and any inks you prefer.  You may also add in dies, twine or glitter if you desire. Please do not use any other products besides those listed below, however you can substitute the Natural Beauties stamp set for another floral set if need be.
  • STAMPS: Natural Beauties only (or another floral set as a substitute if needed)
  • PAPER: Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse
  • RIBBON: Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dot
  • BUTTONS: Simply Chartreuse

Stamp-a-faire Ribbon Techniques Challenge

I loved Erin's cake! But how could I make one myself without the dies and stamps from "Make a Wish"?
Hmm...

I found out that if I cut from the base of the wite cardstock, I could use the bottom of Fillable Frames #9 and the house from Love Lives Here. (The little heart is from the house too!)
The stamps I used come from "Movers & Shakers Sentiment" and "Mat Stack #1" and were stamped with PTI True Black.

Ribbons used: PTI saddlestitch Aqua Mist and Scarlet Jewel.
Oh, and I used PTI white cardstock, as well as some other stuff from my stack!

Here are the rules:

The-Guidelines
--Create a project utilizing your take on the Ribbon Technique Challenge. Your project must use at least one Papertrey product and one of the ribbon techniques shared above.

So now we're starting!

OK. So here we go!
I'm at home today and this is me!

PTI MIM #67 Challenge: "Mixing Patterned Papers"

The PTI Make-It-Monday videos are getting better and better this year! It's so interesting to hear how the DT's are thinking, why they chose the things they chose and what you have to watch out for. I decided to participate in this week's MIM (#67). I'm not very comfortable with soft colours, I'm trying hard to not to "have to" use more contrasting colour shades... This is what I came up with!

Stuff used:
Blue, aqua and pink Panduro cardstock
Patterned paper: Melissa Frances - Kitchy Kitchen
PTI Aqua mist felt
Panduro brown felt
MFT Die-Namics Fishtail Banner
PTI Sweet as can be die
Twine
Copics

Stamps:
Enjoy the ride - PTI
Table service - PTI
Following my heart (Unity Company Aug 2009 kit)

Spring/Vår

I hardly ever make one layer stamping. I just felt like doing it now! I wanted the tag to look a bit like those old pictures they used to have in schools a long time ago. It's very handy to have a flat tag too, especially if you want to stick it among 23 chocolate bars in a package! I can tell you, it fit very snuggly!

Supplies:

Stamps: Oxford Impression - Country Girl, 7 gypsies - Paddington clear stamps
Other: PTI tag sale #1 die, jute twine, chipboard, assorted copics and inks.
